The next P&C Meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th November at 1.30pm in the Staff Room. Everyone is welcome so come along and have your say. Younger children are also welcome to attend.

Mackay Central is one of Queensland's leading schools with a futures orientation to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment from Pre-school to Year 7. Our students work on rich or integrated tasks, which are specific activities that students do that have real world value and use.

The curriculum is organised around the four “New Basics” curriculum organizers:

LIFE PATHWAYS AND SOCIAL FUTURES

· Living in and preparing for diverse family relationships

· Collaborating with peers and others

· Maintaining health and care of self

· Learning about and preparing for new worlds of work

· Developing initiative and enterprise

MULTI-LITERACIES, NUMERACIES AND COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA

· Blending traditional and new communications media

· Making creative judgements and engaging in performance

· Communicating using languages and intercultural understandings

· Mastering literacy and numeracy

ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP

· Interacting within local and global communities

· Operating within shifting cultural identities

· Understanding the historical foundation of social movements and civic institutions.

ENVIRONMENTS AND TECHNOLOGIES.

· Developing a scientific understanding of the world.

· Working with design and engineering technologies

· Building and sustaining environments
